A Holistic Approach - How understanding nutrition is the key to weight loss!
TWPT is a Personal Training gym with a difference! Rather than focussing solely on exercise, we take a holistic approach, looking at every element of our clients’ lifestyles to help them set goals to be healthier, fitter and ultimately - happier!
One of the main areas we focus on aside from workouts is nutrition. We firmly believe that fully understanding nutrition is paramount to losing weight and better health. All our PTs are fully trained in nutrition and continually educate themselves to ensure that we have the most up-to-date solid scientific research to add to the foundations of nutrition, as well as the anecdotal evidence of working with hundreds of clients.
Rather than a one size fits all approach, fad diets, or focussing on exercise alone, we take time to get to know each individual client and help them learn about the foundations of nutrition so that they can implement this knowledge into their own eating plans.
Working on a one-to-one basis to create a plan that compliments their personal training program and lifestyle for the longterm sets our clients up for success, rather than sticking to an unrealistic crash diet for just a few days or weeks.
“There’s a lot of very well-marketed, one-size-fits-all approaches to dieting that in reality only work for a small number of people.” Explains Senior Trainer, Dan Green. “Diets are actually incredibly individual, a bespoke approach is almost always needed to ensure the best long term results and creation of habits that result in the best health achievable.”
Whilst some diets that promise quick fixes may work in the short term, it can be hard to keep the weight off in the long term. Weight loss is all about small maintainable changes that can be stuck to in the long term.
A person’s mental wellbeing could also be impacted, with restrictive diets sometimes triggering people to have a bad relationship with food.
“What may work for one person, may not work for another.” Explains Jon Manners. “There’s no point giving someone who has a busy social life and dines out a lot a rigid diet plan of home-cooked meals. It’s about setting them up for success and working with them to create a plan that will best serve them in the long run”.
Instead we are passionate about education and working closely with our clients to create bespoke, realistic and sustainable nutrition plans that will lead to success!
